Scenariusz legendy o świętym Patryku

Narrator 1: Będąc zaledwie dzieckiem, w wieku 16 lat Patryk został porwany od kochających rodziców przez irlandzkich piratów z kraju swego ojczystego.
Narrator 2: As a child, Patrick was captured by Irish pirates from his loving family and fatherland.
Pirates: You go with us. Faster!
Patrick: No! Don’t take me! Please!
Patrick’s parents: Leave him alone! Please, no!
Narrator 1: Serca złoczyńców pozostały nieczułe na rozpacz dziecka.
Narrator 2: The villains were insensitive to child’s despair.
Narrator 1: Jako niewolnik ziemi irlandzkiej kilka lat owce pasał.
Narrator 2: As a slave in the Irish land he spent many years tending sheep in the sheepfold.
Narrator 1: cierpiąc głód, zimno i wielką samotność
Narrator 2: starving, freezing, being very lonely
Narrator 1: zwrócił swe myśli ku Bogu
Narrator 2: he led up his thoughts to God
Narrator 1: i wkrótce modlił się stale od wschodu do zachodu,
Narrator 2: and soon he started praying from sunrise to the sunset,
Narrator 1: od świtu do zmierzchu
Narrator 2: from dawn to the dusk,
Narrator 1: kładąc się i wstając
Narrator 2: falling asleep and getting up
Narrator 1: przy pracy w chwilach wytchnienia
Narrator 2: working
Narrator 1: w deszczu i spiekocie
Narrator 2: in the rain and searing heat
Narrator 1: aż Bóg go wysłuchał.
Narrator 2: until God listened to him.
Narrator 1: Jednego dnia
Narrator 2: Once upon a time,
Narrator 1: gdy zasnął znużony na swym posłaniu w owczarni
Narrator 2: when he fell asleep tired in his bed in the sheepfold
Narrator 1: usłyszał we śnie głos Pana mówiący
Narrator 2: he heard Lord’s voice speaking.
Narrator 1: Pójdź Patryku, Twój statek czeka
Lord’s voice: Patrick follow me, your boat is waiting!
Narrator 1: I wstał Patryk i udał się na wybrzeże.
Narrator 2: So then Patrick stood up and wandered to the coast.
Narrator 1: A żaden ze strażników go nie zatrzymał.
Narrator 2: And none of the guards stopped him.
Narrator 1: Przy brzegu stał statek
Narrator 2: At the coast there was a ship,
Narrator 1: a marynarze w porcie czynili ostatnie przygotowania
Narrator 2: and in the harbour sailors were making their last preparations
Narrator 1: Podszedł Patryk do jednego z nich i zapytał czy go zabiorą ze sobą
Narrator 2: So Patrick went to one of them and asked:
Patrick: Will you take me with you?
Narrator 1: A marynarze odrzekli:
Narrator 2: And the sailors replied:
Sailors: Yes, you can join us. We’re very glad.
Narrator 2: Możesz płynąć z nami.
Narrator 1: Popłynęli a Patryk na morzu modlił się równie gorąco jak na lądzie
Narrator 2: At the sea Patrick was praying as much as at the land
Narrator 1: I dziwili się marynarze obcej im wierze
Narrator 2: And the sailors were marvelling because of the creed strange to them.
Sailors: What’s he doing? He’s very strange.
Narrator 1: Płynęli tak trzy dni i trzy noce.
Narrator 2: They were travelling three days and three nights
Narrator 1: A oczom im ukazał sie ląd.
Narrator 2: And the land emerged to their eyes.
Sailors and Patrick: We’re saved! Thank you God!
Narrator 1: Uradowali się gdyż mogli w końcu się posilić i uzupełnić zapasy żywności.
Narrator 2: They were so glad because they could eat something and supplement the provisions.
Narrator 1: Kiedy jednak przybili do brzegu,
Narrator 2: Unfortunately when they came to the shore,
Narrator 1: ujrzeli ziemię pustynną, jałową niezdolna zrodzić nawet traw.
Narrator 2: they found barren, desert soil unable to give birth even to the grass.
Narrator 1: Poszli zatem w głąb nieznanego lądu.
Narrator 2: So they wandered into the unknown land.
Narrator 1: A kiedy po 14 dniach tułaczki
Narrator 2: And after 14 days of wandering
Narrator 1: nadal nie znaleźli nawet dzikiej jagody.
Narrator 2: still they haven’t found even wild bilberry
Narrator 1: Rzekli Patrykowi
Narrator 2: They spoke to Patrick
Sailors: Since your God is so great and good how do you think why didn’t he send us some food.
We’re starving to death.
Narrator 1: Skoro Twój Bóg jest tak wielki i dobry dlaczego nie ześle nam jedzenia? Umrzemy z głodu.
Narrator 1: A Patryk nakazał im klęknąć i modlić się.
Narrator 2: Patrick told them to kneel and to pray.
Narrator 1: Gdy tylko skłonili głowy nadbiegło stado świń.
Narrator 2: As soon as they nodded their heads, the herd of pigs appeared.
Narrator 1: Zabili je i posili się.
Narrator 2: They killed them and fed themselves.
Narrator 1: A wielu z nich uwierzyło.
Narrator 2: And many of them believed.
Sailors: It’s a real miracle.
Narrator 1: Siedem lat tułał się Patryk po tej ziemi zanim odnalazł rodziców.
Narrator 2: Patrick spent seven years wandering before he found his parents.
Narrator 1: Ci powitali go szczęśliwi, że utracony syn powrócił.
Narrator 2: They welcomed him glad that their lost son has been found.
Narrator 1: Jednak nie było im dane długo cieszyć się sobą po rozłące.
Narrator 2: Their happiness didn’t last for long.
Narrator 1: Ponieważ Patryk poświęcił swe życie Panu i wnet wstąpił do zakonu w odległym kraju.
Narrator 2: Because Patrick decided to sacrifice his life to God and join the monastery in the distant country.
